MAGNUS THE RED

Magnus the Red. The Daemon primarch of Tzeentch and the leader of the Thousand Sons.

This project was a gargantuan effort, having taken 4.5 weeks to sculpt and 3.5 weeks to paint. overall I spent 100h making this model and boy has the effort payed off!
I started on this project for a painting competition, so i had a lot of time pressure to sculpt him as fast as possible. Even through that he is one of the most impressive models I have made yet and I learned a great deal from making him.

in painting this model I decided to step up my game and try new techniques that I have never tried before! Glazing, Blending, Object source lighting (OSL), and free hand painting were all used for the first time on this model. I am absolutely over the moon that all this came together on the model and am really excited to see what is in store for the future!

My favorite part of the model would have to be the armor detailing, how all the iconography and reliefs mean something to this characters backstory and the Eyes dotted around his armor all stand out in great contrast as I had hopes.
